Tammie Babbitt is a public school leader, writer, and advocate for hope-centered leadership in education. With more than two decades of experience in public schools, she has served as a teacher, instructional coach, and elementary school principal. Her work is grounded in the belief that schools thrive when people are supported, relationships are prioritized, and hope is treated as a daily practice rather than an abstract ideal.
As principal of a Title 1 Elementary School in San Diego County, Tammie leads with a focus on culture, belonging, and capacity-building. She is known for translating big ideas into practical, human-centered systems that help educators stay focused on what matters most, even amid complexity and constraint. Her leadership draws on research, reflection, and lived experience, with an emphasis on small wins, shared responsibility, and sustained growth over time.

Education Leader • Writer • Advocate

Tammie also serves as a mentor and coach to school leaders, supporting new administrators as they navigate change, feedback, and the emotional weight of the work. She is committed to developing others and to creating spaces where educators can think clearly, act courageously, and choose hope again and again.
Driven by Hope reflects both her professional journey and her conviction that hope is not naïve optimism. It is a discipline. It is a direction. And it is a leadership choice available even when the road is long and the conditions are imperfect.
You Are Not Alone.
